The Piano Composition Festival is a contest of original piano compositions by students from age 5-18, non-music major amateurs over age 18, and music teachers. This contest, open to MAPTA members, provides an opportunity for composers throughout our region to submit their compositions for judging. All participants are invited to perform at a recital on October, 2, 2011. For 2011, Mr. Jeremy Hanson, MM (University of Nebraska) will serve as the adjudicator. Students are to submit an original piano composition by either a hand-written or computer-printed score and a recording of that original piano composition. Digital entries are accepted. In past years, the majority of entries have been piano solos, although duets are accepted as well. Students enter at levels measured by age.
The deadline has passed. No further entries will be accepted for the 2011 festival.
